  Finding Dyno Might
Alecs Dyno
Alecs Dyno's entire discography is so much fun, but if I had to pick a favourite album it's probably this one.
Their songs are just so much fun, well most of them, they can also be extremely emotional, but I'll get to that. The instrumentals are so consistently good, and every track tells a story in such an amazing way. The tracks also switch between a literal story being told, and more singing/less literal lyrics, which I absolutely love.

By The Winter is a pretty slow song, and feels very swinging? I do not have an interpretation for the lyrics, but the sounds of this song make my me physically and mentally go slowly from side to side, and it's very calming. Until about 1:40, then all of a sudden it's just a very good vibe for about 30 seconds. Overall just a very cool song.

I Wore A Skirt is just a very fun song about wearing a skirt for the first time and "Whether the weather is worthy of ever being dressed in, the way you are", it's extremely fun lyrically and a very good vibe. Also the whole theme of genuine self expression, and wearing whatever the fuck you want is just very cool.

Debating Yourself Is an amazing song. Period. Not being accepted by family members to the point of self doubt is something I can't put into words, but this song portrays their emotions so well. The transition into the line "I just wanna fucking cry" is so FUCKING GOOD. The instrumentals during and after the buildup carry the vocals so well, it's an amazing collection of sound that all comes crashing down beautifully for about 20 seconds. You can almost feel their raw emotions through this single line, and it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, it's amazing. The part of the song where they talk about hoping this song ages bad, is also so good in so many ways that I can't properly express. Also the last 2 lines almost made me cry a few times.

Alecs Dyno's albums have a lot of amazing transitions between songs (like Headstrong into Lakefront, and Finding Alecs & Her into Dissapoint You (THIS TRANSITION IS SO GOOD ISTG)), and Debating yourself transistions smoothly into texts about roadkill, also the guitar strums fron Your Words can be faintly heard in texts about roadkill which is pretty cool. It's a fun interlude.

The first half of Your Words is sung by Echo0deth, and Alecs Dyno has more collaborations with them (We used to, Find Me Blind) which are all really good. Both of their voices are so different but they fit together very well. The kind of harsh guitar, and just all of the instrumentals in this song combined with Echo0deth's and Alecs Dyno's vocals gives this track a very nice overall sound/vibe. It's pretty different in a way I can't further explain, but it's also pretty damn cool.

Met You In Middle School. Even typing out that title while listening to the song makes my eyes tear up. This song consistently breaks me. It's hard to write about this song because I get more feelings than thoughts from this song. They tell their story so well, this song it terrifying to listen to every time, the ending never hits less hard. I can't write more about this song. It's just devastatingly good, go listen to it yourself.

When You Can starts out pretty calmly, giving you room to process the last song you just listened to for a little bit (something I really need every time I listen to this album). It becomes pretty vibey and very upbeat? idk if that's the right word, but just more positive, kinda inspiring? Mostly because of the repeating part with "So live your life, with no regrets. No matter who you end up being next. And when you can, Then you can see what's left. Don't ever let them win, when you can" which is the part that I probably vibe to the most out of the entire album. I also really like the little story in the beginning of the song that leads into the part I quoted earlier, but I just like things like that in general.

Finding Dyno Might is such a rollercoaster, the vocals in this song are so expressive, but in a very different way, which is really cool to me. From "Tomorrow I go home" the song and vocals start changing, and the way I interpreted it is seeing you as your real self in the mirror, and wishing others would be able to see that version of you, but not being able to be that version of yourself (yet) for whatever reason. I really like this part because the vocals are delivered so well, and the lyrics themselves are so good too. It's very different but defenitely one of my favorites.

I never really knew how to interpret the lyrics from If Roses Have Thorns, like everything to understand exactly what the artist has to say is right there, but my head is just not connecting the dots. So I can't really say anything about the lyrics themselves, but they are delivered so well throughout the entire song, my favourite part probably being "If roses have thorns, then I can talk back" at 0:56, also the instrumentals and just the production overall through this entire song are so insanely good, it is such a constant vibe, with quite a bit of variation throughout the song. So yeah it's really cool, but I can't go very deep into it, it's just a very good vibe.

Oh John Doe, the final track in the album, featuring Sarah Weisz, whose voice again fits very well with that of Alecs Dyno, the portions where they sing together just sound very nice, and the singing by Sarah Weisz is very cool. The entire song is just a vibe, I'm very much repeating myself constantly, but it's hard to put feelings into words. This song again tells a story through it's lyrics and intrumentals, I interpreted this as someone wanting to pull the best out of someone, and make them more than "just some John Doe", making them more in touch with their own skills, their own abilities, and just themselves as a whole. The song is mostly guitar strums with singing, but it fits together amazingly.

So yeah, I really like this album, and Alecs Dyno's entire discography. Go listen to them, give this album and other a try, I promise you you will find a song you enjoy in there.
