Nocturnal
Filmmaker
It was very hard to choose which album I wanted to feature from Faunes Efe aka Filmmaker, because he's made so many albums with amazing music that I absolutely love, but I ended up going for Nocturnal as it is the album I have listened to the most, and because it has an owl on the album cover of course!
This album feels industrial, rough, mechanical, harsh, and mysterious. It just sounds cool, in like the most honest and sincere way that "cool" can be interpeted.
listening to this album makes me feel a way that I don't think I ever really feel otherwise, it's sort of main-character ish I guess? But in a "wow I'm so cool and mysterious" way. Idk it's hard to describe, but it just kinda makes my mind imagine a modern industrial city thats dirty and grimy, but has some of the coolest people in it. Basically it just makes me feel like I'm inside of the game SPRAWL but not as the main character.
The album is completely instrumental and very (if not also completely) digital, which I think is very cool as the album, and Filmmaker's music in general, feels unique to Filmmaker, and gives a very unqiue feeling. It's also great music to just keep my mind at bay I've noticed, as it is instrumental, and busy enough to not let my mind wander, but also not too busy to be overstimulating or taking up my mind so much that it limits my ability to think, so it's also a great anti-ADHD album.
My favorite tracks are probably Midnight Showdown, because of how it constantly flows and evolves but keeps moving. Steel Woods because of how sort of weird and all over the place it feels and the way it sort of pokes at my brain, also the title reminds me of the east forest on Tarkus in Trials in Tainted Space. And unsurprisingly Hostile Environment, as it just feels so good to listen to, it's probably the most vivid in making me feel the way I described earlier in this entry.
If you enjoy Nocturnal, defenitely also check out The Love Market, VLAD TAPES, Hollywood Cult, and Great Tribulations, as they are all fucking amazing albums.
