I've been listening to Feel like I'm enough, Breathe, and I'm not a machine
for around a year and a half, and enjoyed them a LOT. But I never really properly listened to Rob
Feather's debut album, Nest, in it's entirety, and when I did, wow did it completely
overwhelm me (positively).
Listen to the Music hits so deep to me, because I
interpreted the song as, simply put, making music, the anxiety that comes with presenting something
you made to someone else, and all of the doubts, fears, and every uncertainty that comes with making
music, and it's so well done, the instrumentals are also just amazing, but that's consistent throughout
all of Rob Feather's music imo.
Everything Falls Apart is also such a banger, it's so emotional but such a vibe
at the same time, the delivery of "Everything breaks and cuts off" throughout the
song gets me every time.
Time Waster, I'm Not a Machine, and Feel like I'm Enough
Also all share the same balance of being incredibly emotional, pulling you into the song with the lyrics
but also having such good instrumentals, there's so much going on at all times, but it's never too much,
It's so good.
Trying but Failing is a fun interlude I really enjoy, I don't really have much more
to say about it, it's just fun, and surprisingly ethereal.
Melatonin is also a very vibey song, and I really like how the vocals on this song are
a bit less filtered, don't get me wrong the more filtered vocals in other tracks fit incredibly well,
but for this song I really enjoyed them being a bit more human-like. Being someone with a sleeping disorder,
this song also defenitely resonated.
Breathe... man this song goes hard. I know the lyrics by heart at this point. I love
the line "I was so caught up in detail, I was too blind to see. Flowers that blossom right under my feet."
like MAN that is so good, also this song just resonates with me in general, maybe not exactly, but it
defenitely hits somewhere.
The outro song, Birdsong, is so completely different from all the other tracks in the
album. The intro of the album is kinda out of nowhere, but it's so good. And then the transition into
the more digital/electronic part of the track, the lyrics throughout the entire song, it's made my eyes
tear up. I can't pick favorites from this album, but I can defenitely say this track had the most
emotional impact for me. Also the music video for this track is amazing, go watch it.
Of course all of the bird references in a lot of the tracks on this album are very cool to me, but
that's probably not very suprising *gestures broadly to my entire online identity*
